In a demanding market where operational performance is directly tied to technical discipline, our client, a major industrial organization, is seeking a Reliability Superintendent to play a key role in optimizing its assets.
The facility is recognized for its competitiveness and production costs that rank among the best in its industry. It operates in a modern, highly capital-intensive environment focused on operational excellence.
Your Role
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring strategic alignment between equipment reliability, work planning, and overall operational performance. Your mandate is clear: structure, anticipate, and improve asset performance while maintaining consistent alignment among costs, production, and maintenance.
More specifically, you will:
- Act as the key link between reliability and operational maintenance
- Ensure rigorous work planning aligned with production priorities
- Assess and optimize the return on investment of technical initiatives
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to reliability and production
- Contribute to capital investment management and capital expenditure cost control
- Play an active role during planned shutdowns with a strong field presence
- Support rapid decision-making in operational environments (“ability to pivot effectively”)
- Manage operational risk and anticipate critical equipment failures
Structure, Environment, and Key Challenges
- Lead a team of four non-union professionals (2 planners, technical support, and engineering)
- Work within a continuous industrial operation (24/7) in modern, technically demanding facilities
- Ensure strong alignment among planning, costs, and production
- Strengthen collaboration between maintenance (execution) and reliability (prevention) functions
- Optimize overall performance in a resource-constrained environment
- Maintain balance and cohesion within a diverse, multi-generational team
Profile Sought
We are seeking a professional who combines analytical rigor, practical operational insight, and agile decision-making.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or equivalent – a strong asset)
- 3 to 8 years of experience in an industrial environment
- Relevant experience in industries such as:
- Wood processing / Sawmills
- Pulp and Paper
- Heavy Industry
Key Competencies and Leadership Qualities
- Multidisciplinary technical curiosity (mechanical, electrical, metallurgy) and strong understanding of manufacturing operations
- Ability to deliver results in a resource-constrained environment through a pragmatic, results-oriented approach
- Excellent prioritization, emergency management, and rapid decision-making skills
- Strong field presence, operational credibility, and ability to influence without direct authority
- Accessible, collaborative, and motivating leadership style with clear communication tailored to diverse teams

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary starting at $110,000+, based on experience
- Annual bonus: 10% of base salary
