Head of Demand Planning and Inventory

Reporting to the Director of Procurement, the Head of Demand Planning and Inventory is responsible for building, structuring, and leading a new strategic planning function within a well-established Canadian distribution company. The role aims to shift internal practices from a reactive to a proactive and integrated approach, ensuring close collaboration between the sales, operations, merchandising, product management, and logistics teams. The incumbent will make a key contribution to improving forecasting accuracy, operational efficiency, and inventory health, while participating in a major transformation project.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management

  • Supervise demand planners and the inventory specialist.
  • Ensure skills development and guarantee the quality of analyses.

Integrated Planning

  • Centralize information from various internal teams.
    Transform projects, trends, and constraints into consistent demand and inventory plans.

Tools, Analysis, and Processes

  • Develop dashboards, reports, and forecasting tools.
    Collaborate with BI/IT teams to structure data and standardize practices.

Product Launches

  • Work with market managers to define sales assumptions.
    Align forecasts and inventories to maximize launch performance.

Strategic Support

  • Produce inventory analyses and formulate recommendations.
  • Contribute to transformation initiatives and business decisions.

Desired Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Approximately 10 years of supply chain experience, including 5 years in management.
  • Solid experience in planning, forecasting, S&OP, or inventory management.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, Excel, and analytical tools.
  • Ability to build and structure effective planning processes.
  • Comfortable working in a multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Inspiring and pragmatic leadership.
  • Clear communication, analytical skills, and a collaborative approach.

What we offer:

  • Hybrid work schedule: 3 days/week.
  • Occasional travel (3–4 times per year).
  • Salary starting at $115,000 and up, depending on experience.
  • 4 weeks of vacation, benefits from day one.
  • Group RRSP with employer contribution (up to 5%).
  • Target bonus: 15%.
