Assistant Controller (CPA or in progress) – Distribution / Healthcare


Our client, a well‑established and fast‑growing organization operating at the heart of the healthcare sector, is seeking an Assistant Controller (CPA or in progress) to support the evolution of its Finance department. This strategic role offers full exposure to the accounting cycle, hands‑on involvement in financial analysis, and a clear path toward increased responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the monthly close process (complex journal entries, reconciliations, general ledger analysis).
  • Prepare variance analyses and performance reports for management.
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Support OPEX and CAPEX tracking and perform ad‑hoc financial analyses.
  • Prepare or oversee the production of tax reports and support internal and external audits.
  • Document and enhance internal controls and accounting processes.
  • Participate in the optimization of financial systems (ERP, data management, automation).
  • Oversee the quality of billing processes and accounting entries.
  • Act as a back‑up to the Director of Finance for certain reviews and validations, as required.

Desired Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA designation (or currently in progress).
  • 4 to 7 years of experience in corporate accounting.
  • Experience with financial close, analysis, audits, and process improvement.
  • Strong Excel skills; ERP experience (Sage X3, D365, SAP, or equivalent).
  • Strong attention to detail, professional judgment, analytical mindset, autonomy, and team spirit.
  • Excellent French; functional English (environment involving frequent interactions with English‑speaking partners).

Location:

  • Position can be based in Quebec or Ontario
  • Hybrid / remote work model
