Plant Manager

Manufacturing Sector – Steel

Are you an operational leader who enjoys maintaining, structured, and high-performing operations and driving their growth? Take the helm of a growing company that aims to make its Sherbrooke site a model of excellence and performance, designed to support major expansion projects.

Reporting to the COO, the Plant Manager will have exclusively operational responsibilities. Financial aspects are handled by another function within the organization, allowing you to focus your efforts on site performance, continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, and supporting growth.

Key Responsibilities and Impact

As Plant Manager, you will be the on-site expert and driving force behind:

Operational Excellence
  • Oversee and optimize daily operations with rigor, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Ensure product quality, compliance, non-conformity management, and the performance of the quality department.
  • Manage safety, adherence to deadlines, and overall site performance.
  • Implement strong operational discipline through KPIs, dashboards, and structured management routines.
  • Quickly identify and resolve deviations to prevent any impact on operations or customer satisfaction.
Leadership and Culture
  • Inspire, coach, and empower managers and key teams.
  • Promote a culture of rigor, transparency, collaboration, and adherence to processes.
  • Maintain a constant on-site presence to understand the challenges and support teams in execution.
  • Demonstrate credible, human, and pragmatic leadership focused on problem-solving.
Transformation and Growth
  • Standardize, document, and evolve processes to create a replicable model for other sites.
  • Strengthen systems, technologies, and tools to support productivity and capacity scaling.
  • Manage process evolution gradually and in a controlled manner.
  • Prepare the business unit to double in size in the coming years.
Operational Governance
  • Ensure clear and structured operational accountability to executives and shareholders (site performance, safety, quality, operating costs per unit, capacity, customer service).
  • Manage budgets, operational priorities, and resources in line with established objectives.
  • Make tactical and operational decisions guided by data, site objectives, and customer needs.
  • Maintain consistent alignment with executives to ensure site stability and performance.

Note: Financial responsibilities and reporting (accounting, treasury, statements, taxation) fall under another function; this position is operationally focused.

  • Inspiring, people-oriented, practical, and solutions-focused leadership.
