Head of Department - Tax Compliance

We are looking for a Head of Tax Compliance to join our client’s team and take on exciting challenges. As a leader in this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the tax compliance of our client’s Canadian and US companies, while playing a key role in the company’s tax strategy and decisions.

What you will do as a Tax Compliance Conductor:

  • You will be the focal point to ensure that all subsidiaries, both Canadian and US, are in full compliance with current tax legislation.
  • You will lead the preparation, review and approval of tax returns to ensure that they are accurate and submitted on time.
  • You will oversee tax audits and will be on the front lines to manage and resolve any issues that may arise with the tax authorities.
  • You will proactively monitor new tax regulations to keep our client up to date and compliant.

Your main responsibilities:

General management:

  • Apply and improve your department’s tax management processes.
  • Implement effective governance, known and respected by all team members.

Tax compliance:

  • Manage Canadian and US tax compliance (income tax, property tax, etc.).
  • Supervise the preparation and approval of tax returns for all subsidiaries.
  • Manage tax audits and ensure compliance with regulations, including Regulation 105.

Tax Accounting:

  • Review and approve the quarterly consolidated tax provision.
  • Supervise tax analyses for Canadian and US companies, and ensure account compliance.

The profile we are looking for:

  • A BAC in accounting, finance, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of experience).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in tax compliance, ideally in a multinational environment.
  • A thorough knowledge of Canadian and US tax laws.
  • A talent for managing complex tax projects and an ease of working in a constantly changing environment.

Location: Montreal or Estrie
