Role Description
The technical manager in electrical engineering is responsible for the technical direction of the team of service engineers through investigation and resolution projects for customer vehicle failures, reliability issues as well as the development of “aftermarket” options. » for our customers.
It is central in all phases of the project, starting with the definition of the problem up to the strategy for implementing the solution with clients. He acts as a coach and mentor for the team and provides unparalleled support to his teammates.
Main responsibilities
- Technical monitoring of the electrical engineers of the service engineering team and support in their activities;
- Determine the technical requirements of projects and define the work in preparation for execution by the team;
- Guide the team through the milestones of the development/investigation process and ensure the quality and effectiveness of the proposed solutions;
- Guide the team in analyzing issues raised on customer vehicles;
- Represent the service engineering team in the approval process of service bulletins and vehicle recalls;
- On a technical level, ensure governance, decision-making, problem solving, coordination and any other related tasks in order to meet the quality and schedule objectives of the service engineering team;
- Collaborate with the company’s various design teams on customer and vehicle reliability issues;
- Ensure the production of vehicle improvement and maintenance solutions;
- Implementation of design methodologies and integration with the company’s design tools;
- Participate in technical training and development of the service engineering team;
- Participate in the process of hiring new team members;
- Master heavy vehicle systems.
What you need to succeed in this position
Knowledge
- Mastery of the principles of electrical engineering;
- High power battery systems;
- Logic controllers and embedded software;
- AC and DC distribution systems;
- Multi-phase motors;
- Mastery of communication protocols and hardware layer: CANBus network, J1939, Lin;
- Knowledge of heavy vehicle systems;
- Knowledge of data analysis on CAN network;
- Mastery of tools, MS Office Suite;
- Essential bilingualism (French, English);
- This position requires intermediate or advanced knowledge of English, spoken and written on a daily basis, in order to communicate with suppliers and colleagues located outside of Quebec.
- Advantages:

- Experience with vehicle controllers; M560, Actia, Parker;
- Knowledge of a 3D CAD program (SolidWorks and Catia V5) for wiring flattening;

Training and experience required
- BAC in electrical engineering or any other related field;
- 10 years of experience in electrical engineering;
- 1-3 years of experience as technical leader of a team of engineers;
- Experience in heavy vehicle systems;
- Be a member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec.
- This position is face-to-face 3 days per week or more, depending on business needs;
- Interest in working in a constantly evolving environment;
- Be required to travel to Quebec, Canada and the United States (less than 5%).
